Amethyst is a private network of radiotherapy and oncology clinics. The Amethyst Bucharest centre, located in Otopeni (42 Drumul Odăii, Ilfov County), has operated since September 2012 and was the network's first centre; Amethyst now has six centres in Romania: Bucharest (Otopeni), Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Alba Iulia, Piatra Neamț and Satu Mare. The centres offer external-beam and stereotactic radiotherapy, brachytherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, CT and MRI imaging and supportive care, reimbursed by the National Health Insurance House (CNAS) under the applicable conditions.

- Studied atomic and nuclear physics at the University of Cluj-Napoca and general medicine at the Cluj-Napoca Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy; PhD in physics (Babeș-Bolyai University, 1978) and MD (Cluj, 1980).
- Radiotherapy training in Germany at Marienhospital Herne (University of Bochum) and at the University of Würzburg Radiotherapy Clinic (1988–1995); radiotherapy specialist since 1991.
- Chief physician and director of the Institute of Radiation Oncology at St. Vincenz Hospital, Limburg, Germany (1996–2010); appointed professor at the University of Würzburg in 2002.
- Initiated the Amethyst Radiotherapy Centre in Otopeni (2011) and teaches on the Medical Biophysics and Cellular Biotechnology master's programme at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest.
- Author or co-author of several books on oncology and radiotherapy and of more than 40 specialist articles.
